Thoughts:

This was decent, I like Samara Weaving (Ready or Not) so we thought we'd give it a try.

As with most movies now, there's a ton of middle stuff that just wasn't needed.

There was a triple cross, which was great.

All in all, this had a good story line, good action and a good cast

CAUTION; Spoiler Alert

Story Line;

A fast-paced action comedy starring Bryce Dallas Howard as Kat, an improv comedy teacher beginning to question if she's missed her shot at success. When an undercover cop (Sean Bean) offers her the role of a lifetime, she recruits two of her students (Orlando Bloom and Nick Mohammed) to infiltrate London's gangland by impersonating dangerous criminals

Thoughts:

This was super fun and cute to watch!

The cast had great chemistry and seeing Orlando Bloom in a comedy role was what we all needed. It tried not to take itself too seriously and because of that, it works.

The intervention scene was honestly the best

CAUTION; Spoiler Alert

American struggling stand-up comedian Kat Bryant teaches improv in London. One day, recruited by Detective Sergeant Graham Billings of the Metropolitan Police tasked to find actors for low-level sting operations, she approaches two of her newest students—Marlon Swift, an aspiring actor, and Hugh, a socially awkward IT worker—to form a trio.

They are all frustrated professionally. Kat teaches the improv group after losing hope of being discovered. Marlon has only gotten an occasional random commercial, so is dropped by his manager. The introverted, insecure Hugh lacks self-confidence and is lonely.

Kat, whose visa is expiring and still relationship-free, goes to her friend's wedding shower. There, everyone else is successful professionally and personally. They pity Kate, so offer to loan her money.

The trio, 'Bonnie', 'Roach' and 'The Squire', is sent to investigate a shop selling counterfeit cigarettes. Improvising, they inadvertently get led to mid-level criminal dealer Fly. When he offers them stolen cocaine, Kat cons the rival Albanian gang into buying back their own drugs, as Fly's associate Shosh had inadvertently nicked them. Impressed, Fly recruits them, so Billings insists they continue undercover.

Using aliases, they intimidate Sagar, who owes Fly money, then subsequently dies while fleeing. Detective Inspector Dawes leads the official investigation into the death. He mistakes them for professional criminals, as they appear in several surveillance photos.

The trio gains credibility, as Sagar was a former hitman. Fly takes them out drinking for his birthday, where Kat's school friends on a hen night run into them. Kat improvises until Shosh and Fly scare them off.

Fly's boss Metcalfe asks to meet the trio. Unhappy, as the Albanians, who realized they had been tricked, are refusing to supply him with cocaine. Kat demands Billings pull them, as Metcalfe killed someone while they watched, but he insists they continue.

However, when the trio later try to negotiate with dealer K-Lash, who is selling individual nitrous oxide vials rather than cocaine, unfortunately 'Roach' speaks for them. He talks in threatening gibberish, then throws a real-looking, toy grenade, so the deal collapses and they flee.

They discover Billings is corrupt and using them for personal gain. After his blackmailing monologue, Shosh kills him. Metcalfe attempts to identify Billings' associates by checking his last calls, but initially is unsuccessful.

The trio is tasked with chopping up Billings. Kat insists they go along to not be outed, but ultimately it is method-actor Marlon who grabs the chainsaw. Dividing the parts among three trash bags, Hugh uses his company credit card to rent them bikes. DI Dawes and DS Beverley track them down, but the trio loses them by splitting off.

Reuniting, Kat and Marlon go to her friend's dinner party to borrow her car keys. Actually an intervention, Kat plays along, while guiding Malcolm to the keys. Meanwhile, Hugh fends off a neighborhood dog from the bags of body parts.

Armed with the keys, the trio hurries off with the body, feigning she is heading to rehab. Burying the body parts with Shosh, afterwards she drops off Kat and Marlon in town, taking Hugh home.

As Shosh mentions Metcalfe is having Billings' phone hacked downtown, Kate and Marlon race to intercept it. However, it is a trap, and Metcalfe orders their execution. Fly takes the trio to a remote area, making them believe Shosh is digging their graves. Each apologizes to the others, but he sets them free, as Metcalfe went too far.

Shortly after, before they can flee England, the group is captured by Dawes and faces charges, as they lack proof of Billings' corruption. As he believes the three are undercover cops, Kat convinces Fly to wear a wire during a meeting with the Albanians for immunity for all four of them.

During the deal, the trio, now 'undercover officers', intervenes to save Fly and record Metcalfe admitting to the drugs, so the real police storm in to arrest the criminals. Metcalfe is killed by Shosh, who escapes. Fly, learning the three are actually improv actors, rewards them with cash.

Afterwards, Marlon's acting career takes off, Hugh pursues his real passion by opening a wine shop, and Kat's improv group becomes enormously popular, amid rumors of their undercover work.

The story is set after a drug deal gone wrong, when a bruised detective must fight his way through a criminal underworld to rescue a politician's estranged son, while unraveling a deep web of corruption and conspiracy that ensnares his entire city

Thoughts:

This movie goes from the jump BUT so much doesn't make sense and you're left trying to figure out what the hell is going on

We watched this because of Timothy Olyphant and Tom Hardy but spent the whole time trying to figure out who was good and who was bad

CAUTION; Spoiler Alert

A gang of thieves, consisting of Charlie (Justin Cornwell), Mia (Quelin Sepulveda), Johnny (Xelia Mendes-Jones) and Wes (Jim Caesar), steal a batch of washing machines that contains a hidden shipment of cocaine. They drive the machines away in a semi-trailer rig. They are pursued by Vincent (Timothy Olyphant), Hayes, Jake (Richard Harrington) and Cortez, a group of narcotics squad detectives. The chase is brutal causing heavy damage as it goes through the city. Cortez is badly wounded during the chase and hospitalized. Johnny and Wes are terrified of hurting a cope, but Charlie says that they need to complete the job for Mia, and offers to take the punishment for any other damages caused along the way, including putting a cop In ICU.

Later that night, Charlie and Mia take the stolen cocaine to Tsui (Jeremy Ang Jones), the head of the local Triad. Mia had previously stolen Tsui's car and was forced to work for him to pay off the debt. Wes and Johnny are stationed outside as Charlie and Mia meet Tsui to make the payment.

While there, a gang of masked assailants burst into the hideout, gunning down Tsui and his enforcers. Charlie and Mia barely escape. The masked gang is in league with Ching (Sunny Pang), Tsui's disgruntled lieutenant, who flees the scene shortly before they arrive. Johnny calls Mia and is able to warn her about the oncoming onslaught as he sees the assassins entering Tsui's hideout.

Patrick Walker (Tom Hardy) is a homicide detective, estranged from his family and on the payroll of Lawrence Beaumont (Forest Whitaker), a real estate tycoon, mayoral candidate, and Charlie's father. Helena (Narges Rashidi) is Patrick's wife, who tries to keep their 6-year-old daughter away from Patrick. Patrick is called in to investigate the Tsui murder scene which is a carnage. CCTV footage reveals the faces of Charlie and Mia, but they were only holding a pistol, while the murders were conducted with assault rifles and high velocity rounds. At the Tsui murder site, Carlie learns about the injury to Cortez. He is told that Cortez will survive and that he is currently undergoing surgery.

Upon learning that his son Charlie is accused of Tsui's murder, Lawrence commands Walker to find and protect him. Lawrence's campaign platform is his war on drugs, and he cannot afford to have Charlie as part of drug deal investigation. Lawrence threatens Walker that he knows what he and his buddies did and would put them in jail if Walker does not cooperate. Walker agrees to bring Charlie in exchange for squaring their accounts. Working with his rookie partner, Ellie (Jessie Mei Li), Walker begins hunting down leads for the location of Charlie and Mia.

He also visits Cortez at the hospital, as he used to be a member of the Narcotics squad, all of whom are on Lawrence's payroll. Walker is estranged from them following an incident where Vincent killed an undercover cop during a drug theft gone wrong. The cop was badly injured and Walker wanted to take him to the hospital, but Vincent did not want his ow corrupt dealing exposed and shot the undercover cop dead.

Vincent is adamant to catch Charlie for the injuries caused to Cortez. He argues that they being paid by Lawrence does not give Charlie a free pass to the city. Walker finds from Tsui's doorman that 3 assassins entered Tsui's establishment after Charlie and were responsible for the shootout.

As Walker investigates, Tsui's mother (Yeo Yann Yann) and Ching's older sister, a senior Triad leader nicknamed "Mother", arrives in the city and confronts Ching, demanding to know what happened to her son. Ching blames Charlie, and so Mother has Lawrence brutally kidnapped from his motorcade. Meanwhile Walker is removed from the case for with-holding information that Charlie was on the CCTV footage, as Charlie is being hunted by the police department for hurting Cortez.

Walker tracks down Mia's uncle, Raul (Luis Guzman), who is forging passports that Charlie and Mia can use to leave the country. Walker forces Raul into setting up a meeting at a nightclub that evening where the passports are to be picked up.

However, before Walker can get Charlie and Mia out safely, he is interrupted by the arrival of Vincent, Hayes and Jake. Mia identifies Vincent as Tsui's killer. Raul, Johnny, Wes and triads sent by Mother also arrive, resulting in a mass brawl and shootout. Hayes, Raul, Johnny, Wes and scores of Triads are killed. Walker barely escapes with Mia and a wounded Charlie.

Walker realizes that Vincent and his colleagues were actually seeking to hijack the cocaine shipment for themselves, rather than capture Charlie and his crew. Vincent is in league with Ching, who has a buyer for cocaine. He sought to profit from the deal and take out Tsui, whom he resented for being promoted to head the city Triad over him. Walker narrates his theory to Ellie and asks her for a way into the hospital to protect Cortez. Tying up loose ends, Ching arrives at the hospital and murders Cortez and his wife. Ellie, sent by Walker to protect Cortez, pursues and captures him.

Walker calls Lawrence and says that he has Charlie, but the phone is picked up by Mother. Ellie cannot find Walker and she reaches out to Helena who tells her that Walker has a place by the lake. Walker takes Charlie and Mia to his father's old cabin on the city's outskirts. The Triads track them down and begin a massive assault, forcing the three to fight them off in a gun battle. They kill many of the assailants, but Charlie and Mia are captured. Walker kills the Assassin (Michelle Waterson), Mother's lead enforcer, after a brutal fight in which he is badly wounded. Mother arrives with her bodyguards and Lawrence. Still believing Charlie killed Tsui, she forces Lawrence to play a game of Russian Roulette with Mia.

Ellie uses Ching to lure Vincent and Jake to an abandoned rail-yard and then captures them. However, Ellie arrives, having captured Vincent and Jake alongside Ching. She reveals them as the guilty parties. Ching admits that he plotted Tsui's death because he was jealous of his sister passing the leadership position to her son instead of him after their eldest brother, the previous Triad leader, died. Jake suddenly breaks free and tries to shoot Charlie, but Lawrence shields him, dying in Charlie's arms. Ching and traitorous Triad members loyal to him shoot Mother and her loyalists dead. Ching also wounds Vincent, who in turn guns Ching down and flees with the cocaine. Walker pursues him.

Ellie and Jake fight, and Jake is on the verge of shooting Ellie when Charlie guns him down in revenge for his father. Vincent attempts to flee via train but is shot and wounded by Walker. They argue and Vincent shoots Walker, prompting him to fire back and shoot Vincent dead.

With the police arriving and the heat still on them, Ellie lets Charlie and Mia go. Ellie and a grievously wounded Walker talk, and he urges her to arrest him. She refuses, and Walker looks upon the arriving police cars with an uncertain fate.

Thoughts:

This definitely isn't what I thought it was going to be. It was much better

I love that these movies don't take themselves too seriously yet they do all at the same time. It makes for a fun time watching a movie

The plot, the cast and the visual's were great in this one.

CAUTION; Spoiler Alert

In Malaysia, Yelena Belova destroys a laboratory on behalf of CIA director Valentina Allegra de Fontaine to conceal her involvement with the O.X.E. Group's "Sentry" superhuman project. As de Fontaine faces imminent impeachment for her work with O.X.E. Group, she dispatches Yelena, John Walker, Ava Starr, and Taskmaster to a covert O.X.E. facility under the pretense of a mission. Once there, the operatives are pitted against one another in a deadly confrontation where Ava kills Taskmaster before they unexpectedly release a mysterious man named Bob from a suspended animation pod in the room. Upon learning that they were sent by de Fontaine to be incinerated along with any evidence of her misconduct, they manage to escape from the trap.

De Fontaine learns that the group has survived, including Bob, who was presumed dead during the Sentry trials. When she arrives at the site, Bob creates a diversion by drawing enemy fire, allowing Yelena, Walker, and Ava to escape, only to sustain no injuries despite being shot. Bob then uncontrollably ascends into the air before passing out and crash-landing back at the compound, where he is captured and transported to the former Avengers Tower in New York City, now renamed the "Watchtower". De Fontaine intends to introduce Bob to the press as a super-powered protector akin to the Avengers, hoping the PR stunt will avert her impeachment. Meanwhile, Alexei Shostakov, who had overheard details of de Fontaine's plot while working as a freelance chauffeur, rescues Yelena, Walker, and Ava. Inspired by Yelena's childhood soccer team, Shostakov refers to the group as the "Thunderbolts".

De Fontaine's agents pursue the Thunderbolts before they are ultimately apprehended by Bucky Barnes, who intends to have them testify in the impeachment proceedings. Upon learning that Bob was a subject of one of de Fontaine's top-secret experiments, Barnes joins the group to head to New York to infiltrate the Watchtower. The Thunderbolts discover that de Fontaine has convinced Bob to join her side as a new superhero she plans to market as a replacement for the Avengers called the Sentry. After easily overpowering the team and forcing them to retreat, Sentry develops a god-like delusion of superiority, turning on de Fontaine. However, her assistant, Mel, incapacitates him with a fail-safe kill switch. This triggers the emergence of the Void, Bob's destructive alter ego and the embodiment of his depression and insecurities created as a result of the procedure and his fractured psyche, who begins engulfing New York City in supernatural darkness, trapping its citizens in pocket dimensions based on their worst memories.

Realizing the only way to stop the Void is from within, Yelena enters the darkness to reach Bob's consciousness. There, she faces her haunted past as a Black Widow and finds Bob hiding in a recreation of his childhood bedroom, where his father abused him. The other Thunderbolts soon join them, and together they travel back to the memory of Bob's initial experimentation in Malaysia, where he volunteered for the procedure, hoping to improve himself after becoming an aimless drug addict. The Thunderbolts confront the Void, but are swiftly overpowered. As the struggle threatens to fully consume Bob, the team intervenes, affirming their belief in him. Their solidarity empowers Bob to regain control, overcoming the Void as light and normality return to the city.

With the threat neutralized, the Thunderbolts prepare to apprehend de Fontaine. However, she manipulates public perception by staging a press conference in which she re-brands them as the New Avengers. The Thunderbolts reluctantly agree, but Yelena threatens de Fontaine if she betrays them again.

In a post-credits scene: the New Avengers and Bob discuss an ongoing problem in outer space, when they receive a distress signal from an inter-dimensional spacecraft with a large "4" emblem.

Struggling to find his place at Oxford University, student Oliver Quick finds himself drawn into the world of the charming and aristocratic Felix Catton, who invites him to Saltburn, his eccentric family's sprawling estate, for a summer never to be forgotten

Thoughts:

I'm over here wondering how in the hell this movie got such good ratings.

I didn't understand the plot or even what was actually going on until the very end. It's literally explained at the end of the movie

I found this to be way too weird for my taste. It was slow and boring, and we almost shut it off

CAUTION; Spoiler Alert

In late 2006, scholarship student Oliver Quick from Prescot struggles to fit in at the University of Oxford because of his inexperience with upper-class manners. He befriends Felix Catton, an affluent and popular student who is sympathetic to Oliver's stories of his parents' substance abuse and mental health issues. When Oliver becomes distraught over his father's sudden death, Felix comforts him and invites him to spend the summer at his family's country house, Saltburn.

At Saltburn, Oliver meets Felix's eccentric parents Sir James and Lady Elspeth, his sister Venetia, and Elspeth's friend Pamela, as well as Felix's American cousin Farleigh, with whom Oliver has had a tense relationship as classmates at the university.

Oliver quickly wins over Felix's family (except for Farleigh), and his obsession with Felix grows. One night, he watches Felix masturbating in a bathtub and lustfully drinks the semen-laced bathwater. Oliver waves to Venetia and performs oral sex on her while she is on her period. Farleigh witnesses this and informs Felix. When Felix confronts Oliver about the accusation, he claims nothing happened. At night, Oliver initiates sexual advances on Farleigh, threatening him in the process. The next morning, James evicts Farleigh after receiving a report from Sotheby's about Farleigh's intention to sell some of James's valuables.

As the summer ends, Elspeth and James plan a party for Oliver's birthday. Felix surprises Oliver with a trip to see his estranged mother, causing Oliver to panic. Upon arriving at the family's house in Prescot, Felix realises that Oliver lied to him about his upbringing. Oliver's father is still alive; neither of his parents are substance abusers; and they live in a respectable middle-class suburb. Horrified and hurt by Oliver's deception, Felix decides not to tell anyone to spare his own family the humiliation, but he orders Oliver to leave Saltburn after the party. During the celebrations, Oliver seeks to make amends with Felix by expressing his adoration for him. Felix rejects him and suggests he seek help.

The next morning, Felix is found dead in Saltburn's hedge maze. Oliver implies Felix's death was connected to Farleigh supplying drugs during the party, and James withdraws financial support from Farleigh and bans him from returning. Oliver mourns Felix and visits his grave alone, where he places flowers, lies naked on the grave soil, and masturbates on it.

After Felix's funeral, Elspeth insists that Oliver extend his stay at Saltburn. Venetia, increasingly distraught and disturbed, accuses Oliver of destroying her family, calling him a moth, a serf and a spider. He attempts to placate her, but she eventually rebuffs him, disturbed by his growing impersonation of Felix. The next day, Venetia is found dead, having killed herself in the bathtub. Despondent over Oliver's continuing presence at Saltburn and Elspeth's closeness to him, James bribes him to leave, which Oliver accepts.

In 2022, Oliver reads about James's death in a newspaper. He subsequently has what appears to be a chance encounter with Elspeth at a café. She is delighted to see him again, insisting he return with her to Saltburn. After spending several months with Oliver, Elspeth becomes terminally ill. At her deathbed, Oliver confides in Elspeth that he is responsible for the tragic events at Saltburn. He had orchestrated his meeting Felix at Oxford and even planned his encounter with Elspeth at the café, after which she bequeathed all her assets, including Saltburn, to him. Oliver comforts Elspeth and then murders her by removing her life support. Having now assumed ownership of Saltburn and the Catton family fortune, he dances happily naked around the mansion.

Chronic Pain Thoughts: Volume 42 Brain Fog

Vol 42

Dear Reader,

The days of me feeling like I can do anything have been few and far between. I don't understand what's happening to my brain. I feel stuck, lost in a haze that I can't find my way out of it and it's starting to effect my life.

I can do my job because I've done it for so long but anything else is a wild effort

I don't sleep or I sleep too much, I have a routine and I stick with it. I've tried a bunch of medications and therapy. I've tried what I feel is everything.

My favorite part of looking this up is “Talk to your doctor” except access to care is impossible. I feel like there are so many people in the medical community that get into it for the money and not actually help people. Grafters is what The Doctor/Patient Forum calls them

Is it my medications or something else. What is going on and why does it take so long to figure it out

Story Line;

Elliot and Ridley Kintner, a father-daughter duo, accidentally strike a wayward animal with their car while traveling to a weekend vacation. What begins as a bizarre and unfortunate accident descends into pandemonium involving a billionaire boss, supernatural healing, and some very angry parents.

Thoughts:

This was different. There haven't been many movies even close to this.

This starts off a little slow, then it picks up almost right away. It's funny and has some serious moments.

I would watch it again. My only thought was: Did the people who own the resort know about the unicorns?

CAUTION; Spoiler Alert

Elliot Kintner and his teenage daughter Ridley are spending a weekend at the estate of Elliot's boss, Odell Leopold, and his family- his wife Belinda and son Shepard. On the way, Elliot accidentally strikes and injures a small unicorn with his car. When Ridley touches its horn, she experiences strange, cosmic visions, which Elliot abruptly stops by bludgeoning the creature with a tire iron, splashing blood on them both.

The Kintners arrive at the Leopolds' estate with the unicorn's body hidden in their car. Shortly after, Ridley discovers that the unicorn's blood has cleaned away the acne on her face; Elliot's vision has also improved, and his allergies are gone. The Leopolds eventually discover the unicorn still alive in the car, and Leopolds' assistant Shaw shoots it. Upon learning that the unicorn has magical healing properties, Odell suggests they experiment with it.

A group of scientists working for the Leopolds, led by Dr. Song, create a concoction by grating off some of the unicorn's horn, which cures Odell of his cancer. Odell orders the unicorn taken to their laboratory for further testing, planning to monetize its healing properties. Having read the story behind The Unicorn Tapestries, Ridley argues that the Leopolds should not be misusing the body of the unicorn, but they dismiss her concerns. As the unicorn is being transported to a laboratory, a pair of much larger unicorns kill Song and several security personnel before disappearing into the woods. Odell organizes a hunting party and insists that Elliot join them.

Shepard steals a vial of the unicorn's grated horn, which he snorts, and orders another scientist, Dr. Bhatia, to saw off the entire horn. Ridley realizes the unicorn is a foal and is still alive. Meanwhile, Elliot and the hunting party fall into a lethal trap set by the older unicorns. Several people are killed, including Odell and Shaw. Elliot returns to the estate, where they realize that the unicorns are the foal's parents. The group sends Bhatia to offer the foal back to the unicorns. Upon realizing its horn has been removed, the unicorns kill her while Griff, the butler, flees.

The unicorns follow the remaining survivors into the estate. Shepard and Belinda hide in the wine cellar and Shepard proposes an idea of a unicorn ranch to breed them to harvest their blood and horn but one unicorn breaks through and Belinda is disembowelled by one of them. Elliot apologizes to Ridley and, having stolen the horn, lures the other unicorn outside so she can escape. Ridley is caught and held at arrow-point by Shepard, having learned that unicorns are docile toward "a pure-hearted maiden" after experiencing visions from snorting the horn. The parent unicorns arrive and are immediately docile to Ridley. As Shepard ties up the unicorns' legs, Elliot stabs him with the horn, only to get stabbed back with an arrow.

Shepard collapses and is fatally kicked by one of the unicorns. Ridley describes her visions to Elliot as he dies. Seeing Ridley mourning him, the unicorns magically revive Elliot and their foal and leave peacefully. Griff returns with the police, who promptly arrest the Kintners. As they are being driven away, the unicorns return and ram the police car, which swerves off the road as they brace for impact.
