Five
years after her husband and daughter are killed in a senseless act of
violence, a woman comes back from self-imposed exile to seek revenge
against those responsible and the system that let them go free
Thoughts;
This
movie started strong. The plot is pretty aparant from the
beginning and just goes from there without skipping a beat. I
like Jennifer Garner in these types of roles. She plays bad ass
very well.
Plot Summary;
CAUTION; Major Spoiler Alert The
film opens with what appears to be a struggle happening in a car.
Riley North (Jennifer Garner) is fighting a gangster who slashes her
leg with his knife. She gains the upper hand and holds a gun under
his chin. Riley asks if he remembers her, but he simply responds with
a defiant "Fuck you!" before Riley blows his brains
out.
Riley
goes to an impoverished neighborhood where she hides out. She enters
her van where she tends to her leg wound and has a drink. She goes
through her belongings, and out falls a box of girl scout
cookies.
Five years earlier.....
Riley is seen with her
daughter Carly (Cailey Fleming) after getting into an argument with
another girl scout's mother, Peg (Pell James), who complains to Riley
that they were selling on their turf. Later, Riley and Carly stop to
visit Riley's husband/Carly's father Chris (Jeff Hephner), who,
unbeknownst to Riley, is arranging some kind of shady deal with his
co-worker Mickey (Chris Johnson). Riley then goes to work at her bank
and is told to close even though it's Carly's birthday.
Riley
goes home for Carly's birthday party, only to find her and Chris
disappointed because nobody showed up thanks to Peg, who spitefully
threw a holiday party and invited all the other kids, but left a
voicemail just to taunt Riley and Carly. Riley decides not to let
Carly stay sad, so she suggests they all go to the Christmas
carnival. As they head out, Chris calls Mickey to tell him he's
backing out of the deal. The family leaves, and they are watched by a
gangbanger. He calls his boss, cartel leader Diego Garcia (Juan Pablo
Raba). Garcia is in the middle of torturing Mickey, who was
apparently trying to steal from Garcia with Chris's help. Garcia
orders his guy to follow Chris right before he decapitates
Mickey.
The Norths enjoy their evening at the carnival and end
the night with ice cream. As Chris and Carly walk back toward the
car, three gangbangers drive up by them and shoot them. Riley gets
shot as well, but she manages to make it to the bodies of her husband
and daughter.
Riley wakes up in the hospital and meets with
Detective Stan Carmichael (John Gallagher Jr). He tells Riley that
the suspects have been apprehended, and he gives Riley the photo
booth pictures she took with Chris and Carly.
Riley is brought
in to identify the gangbangers. She recognizes all three of them by
their face tattoos. Later, as she is packing up Chris and Carly's
things, Riley is visited by an attorney, named Mr. Henderson (Michael
Mosley), who attempts to bribe Riley into dropping her testimony
against the criminals that he is representing. He also notices some
medication that Riley is taking, but she forces him out of her
house.
Riley is brought in to testify against the gangbangers,
but Henderson tries to use the medication thing against her by saying
her memory was hazy or that she is mentally unfit to remember them.
Judge James Stevens (Jeff Harlan) rules against Riley's favor and
lets the killers walk. Riley snaps and tries to attack the
gangbangers, but she is tased by the bailiff, and the killers laugh
in her face. Riley is being wheeled away to a psych ward, and
Carmichael hops in to join her in the ambulance, but she grabs an
oxygen tank, whacks Carmichael across the head, and then runs out of
the ambulance, disappearing.
In the present day, Carmichael
meets with his partner, Moises Beltran (John Ortiz), as they find the
bodies of the three killers hung upside down from a ferris
wheel.
Riley goes to the home of Judge Stevens and ties him up
after beating him and nailing his hands to the table. She makes sure
he remembers her, and she tells him that the rope he's tied up with
is explosive. Riley hops on a bus and then detonates the rope,
blowing Stevens up. On the bus, Riley meets a young boy, and she
gives him a toy that she swiped from Stevens' home. She notices the
boy's father is drunk, and as they get off the bus, the man enters a
liquor store while his son waits outside. Riley pistol-whips the guy
and orders him to not ever drink again and to be a good father, or
she will find him since she saw his ID and remembers his address. She
then forces the clerk to give her his car, but she at least gives him
money for it.
Carmichael and Beltran meet with fellow
Detective Inman (Annie Ilonzeh), as they suspect Riley to be behind
these killings, seeing as how it is the five-year anniversary of
Chris and Carly's murders. After the trial, Riley robbed her bank and
stole military-grade guns from a warehouse before going off the grid.
Carmichael then gets a phone call telling him about Stevens' death,
as well as the fact that Henderson was found face down in his pool.
This basically confirms for them that Riley was involved.
Riley
drives to a pinata store and kills the two men outside before
entering. A firefight ensues, but Riley kills all the men inside
except for one, Marvin (John Boyd). He later reports on what happened
to Garcia, and Marvin gets killed for spilling his guts to Riley.
In
order to get rid of Riley, Garcia arranges for his men to lure her to
a warehouse. She finds a bomb there and hides just as Garcia's men
detonate it, obliterating the whole building. Riley gets out through
the sewers and steals someone's car so she can go after the guys. She
catches up, kills them, and then manages to drive to Garcia's home.
Riley kills most of the men in there before making it to Garcia
himself. She has his gun turned on him, but before she can pull the
trigger, Garcia's daughter (who looks about the same age as Carly
when she died) walks in. Garcia stabs Riley in the side and gets out
with his daughter and his men.
Riley flees and finds Peg's
home. She punches Peg in the face and barges in to tend to her
wounds. Riley has Peg tied up, pointing out that Peg's husband left
her for another woman. Riley threatens Peg and even makes her piss
herself before she leaves her there.
Inman travels to the poor
neighborhood to continue her investigation. She learns from one of
the men there that the crime rate in that area went down because of
the "angel" looking out for them. She is then met by
Carmichael in that area. When she comes close to realizing somebody
in the police department is tipping off Garcia, Carmichael reveals
himself to be dirty, and he shoots Inman dead.
Garcia meets
with Carmichael in the area. Riley finds Inman's body and takes her
phone to make a live video that hits the news. As Garcia and his men
gather, Riley exposes Carmichael and Garcia for the scumbags they
are, and she invites the police and the news to that area. Garcia
then calls Riley out using a walkie-talkie and orders her to come out
or he will execute a little girl from that neighborhood. Riley
surrenders and approaches Garcia. He starts to beat Riley up just
before the police show up. Thinking Carmichael set him up, Garcia
shoots him dead. Garcia's men are arrested as he tries to flee, but
Riley catches up to him. She holds her gun at him, and the police
have their weapons drawn on her. Beltran begs Riley not to shoot
Garcia, and he taunts her saying that she'll be in prison longer than
him. Riley says "We're not going to prison", and she shoots
him in the head, and the police return fire. Riley manages to flee,
but Beltran says he knows where she's going.
The cops find
Riley at the cemetery at Chris and Carly's grave. She breaks down
weeping as Beltran approaches her. Riley feels she is ready to die
there, but Beltran says otherwise.
Riley is in the hospital,
and the news reports on how civilians see Riley as some kind of
heroic vigilante, but the police say she will answer for her crimes.
Beltran walks into Riley's room and slips a key into her hand,
letting her remove her handcuffs and escape once again.
The
gang is back but the game has changed. As they return to Jumanji to
rescue one of their own, they discover that nothing is as they
expect. The players will have to brave parts unknown and unexplored,
from the arid deserts to the snowy mountains, in order to escape the
world's most dangerous game
Thoughts;
I
liked the first orginal Jumanji, I liked the last one and I
liked this one. These movie combine a unique board game spin
and other than Zuthera, it just hasn't been done again.
The
combination of seriousness and humor along with adventure is
amazing! The movie keeps you engaged, laughing and wondering
what's going to happen next.
Plot Summary;
CAUTION; Major Spoiler Alert A
year after the events of the previous film, friends Spencer Gilpin,
Anthony "Fridge" Johnson, Martha Kaply and Bethany Walker
have graduated high school and gone their separate ways. Bethany is
travelling the world performing community service, Martha has become
a popular girl in college while Fridge has been working out
extensively. To celebrate the holidays, they arrange a reunion at
Nora's diner in Brantford, New Hampshire. Meanwhile,
Spencer has encountered a rough patch in his life while attending
college in New York. Unhappy with his lowly supermarket job, he has
also put his long-distance relationship with Martha on hold. When he
returns home, he finds his maternal grandfather Eddie sharing his
room while he recovers from hip surgery. That night, as Spencer and
Eddie discuss their problems, Eddie tells his grandson that college
is the best time of one's life and that things are destined to go
downhill as one grows older. Despairing
that his life is ever going to improve, Spencer decides to re-don the
persona of Dr. Smolder Bravestone within the Jumanji video game.
Retrieving the broken pieces of the game which he had secretly kept,
he repairs it to a barely-working condition and reactivates it. The
next morning, Spencer's three friends are baffled when he fails to
show up for their scheduled reunion and visit his house looking for
him. There, they meet Eddie and his estranged friend Milo Walker,
learning that the two men were once joint owners of Nora's and had
fallen out after Milo chose to retire. While searching for Spencer,
the threesome hears the dreaded drum beats of Jumanji and discover
the game running in his basement. Reluctantly, they all decide to
re-enter the game in order to rescue him. Upon
entering the game, Martha and Fridge are shocked to find that things
are different from their last adventure. While Martha has become Ruby
Roundhouse once more, Fridge now occupies the body of Professor
Shelly Oberon. Further complicating matters, the damaged game has
inadvertently sucked in Eddie and Milo too, transforming them into
Bravestone and Franklin "Mouse" Finbar respectively.
Bethany is nowhere to be seen. NPC
guide Nigel Billingsley arrives and gives the players their new
mission: evil conqueror Jurgen the Brutal, the murderer of
Bravestone's parents has stolen a gem known as the Falcon Jewel which
guarantees good harvests. The four adventurers must reacquire the
jewel and "show it to the sun", calling out Jumanji's name
to win. After
Nigel drops the players in a desert, they are attacked by a herd of
ostriches, barely making an escape in an abandoned dune buggy. It
quickly becomes apparent that Eddie's stubborn impulsiveness and
Milo's penchant for making long-winded explanations is endangering
the group. At a place known as the Oasis, the team runs into Spencer,
who is now a female cat burglar named Ming Fleetfoot. Following the
clues given to them, Fridge and Martha obtain a desert fruit called
the Jumanji Berry while discovering a pool of green glowing water
which allows them to exchange avatars. As
Spencer and Milo search for camels for the group to ride, Eddie gets
into a brawl with dozens of strangers. The battle draws the attention
of Switchblade, a mercenary who is Bravestone's sole weakness. Using
a rocket launcher, Switchblade kills all the players with a single
shot, costing each one of them a life. Riding the camels to their
next destination, the team is slowed down when Eddie and Milo argue
about the latter's choice to retire from the restaurant business, a
decision which angered the workaholic Eddie. The fight ends when
Eddie crushes Milo beneath a rock. Eventually,
the group arrives at the next level: a series of moving rope bridges
spanning a canyon. It is not long before they encounter a horde of
angry mandrills, which hound the players and attempt to hurl them off
the bridges. Although Fridge is able to guide the team across using
his avatar's geometry skill, they are ultimately surrounded on the
other side by the vicious primates. At the last moment, they are
rescued by Alex Vreeke, whom Bethany had recruited after being left
behind. Playing as Jefferson "Seaplane" McDonough once
more, Alex reveals that Bethany's new avatar is a black horse named
Cyclone, and that the two of them had brought along winter gear for
the others to wear. Eddie
and Milo reconcile, with the latter explaining that he was terminally
ill and wished to make amends with Eddie before he died. As the group
prepares to confront Jurgen at his mountain fortress, Fridge tells
everyone that the mismatched avatars have been a major liability up
to this point. Upon finding a river flowing with the mysterious
glowing water, they are able to restore Spencer, Fridge and Bethany
to their original avatars, with Eddie and Milo becoming Ming and
Cyclone respectively. Unfortunately,
the two old men are captured by Jurgen's men shortly afterwards,
leaving the original team of five to rescue them. Infiltrating the
mountain fortress, Alex loses two of his lives trying to rescue Milo,
while Fridge and Bethany pose as a pair of famous brothers Jurgen is
expecting. Meanwhile, Spencer and Martha rekindle their relationship
while finding and freeing Eddie. Inside
the fortress, Martha battles Jurgen's goons to music while Spencer
pursues the fleeing Jurgen. Confronting the conqueror aboard his
zeppelin, Spencer deduces that the Jumanji Berry is Jurgen's
weakness, using it to subdue and defeat the villain. Below, Cyclone
is revealed to be a flying horse, which leads to Milo carrying Eddie
to meet Spencer in midair. Spencer tosses the Falcon Jewel to his
grandfather, who points the gem at the sun as instructed by Nigel.
Their mission accomplished, the whole team cries out "Jumanji",
ending the game. Nigel
arrives to send the players home, but Milo expresses his wish to stay
in the game. Eddie bids him farewell, understanding his motivations
and thanking him for their friendship. Spencer in turn thanks his
friends for coming for him, whereupon Fridge tells him not to do it
again. Everyone returns safely to Spencer's basement, and Eddie
changes his mind about growing old, saying to Spencer that it is in
fact "a gift". Spencer
and Eddie finally go to Nora's, where it is revealed that the diner's
current owner is actually Nora Shepherd, the aunt of Judy and Peter
and an old friend of Eddie's. Using the lessons he learned as
Bravestone, Eddie begins to flirt with her, smoldering intensely as
he does so. In
a mid-credits scene, Spencer's mother calls in a repairman to fix the
basement heater, who stumbles across the game and its console. Back
at Nora's, a herd of ostriches stampedes past the diner, shocking
Spencer and his friends.
All
wax I have purchased or it has been sent to me in swaps that I do. I
try and remember and disclose that information. I am never sent
anything for free from the vendors
These
are my opinions and mine only. This is not meant to influence your
purchase just to share with you my experiences with vendors
I will
never, won't ever and have never bashed another vendor. Sharing my
experiences both good and bad is not bashing.
I do
not believe in Ass wax. If the wax is going to throw it's going to
throw. No wax should need more than 2 weeks from pour date to fully
cure.
Yes, I
am a vendor. I have been purchasing wax and candles for as long as I
can remember. I do love to share my experiences. I enjoy wax and
candles and will continue to make my own and purchase but I will
never review my own here
I have
a tendency to yawn when I get talking. Not sure why I just do! I'm
sorry in advance
Things
that drive me crazy;
No
vendor or scent name on labels. This is basically advertising and why
wouldn't you do it? Plus if I get or send to someone else and they or
me want more, how do they know who to buy it from?
All
over prices. I have been noticing vendors lately have 2 ounces of one
shape for a certain price, then the same ounces of a different shape
for a different price. This is a huge turn off for me
Restocks
that only have certain quantities and the sell out right away. I have
no tolerance for that and just won't order
I use
the following warmers;
20
watt glade warmer in my office
20
watt glade warmer in my family room
20
watt glade warmer in my kitchen
20
watt glade warmer in my son's room
20
watt Scentsy Stargazer warmer in my bedroom (Light Bulb)
25
watt Happy Wax warmer in my living room
15
watt scentsy warmer in the laundry room bathroom
15
watt scentsy warmer in the main bathroom
The
opinions I put here are my opinions/experiences only. I fully urge
each and everyone of you to form your own opinions/experiences on
vendors for yourself by placing an order and getting a de-stash.
Candles have many aspects to them and if I say I had a hard time
burning one candle that doesn't mean the rest from the same vendor
will be like that.
