Thoughts:
Way too long and drawn out. So much middle unimportant things that could have been removed to make this a really good movie.
The story line was decent, the action was pretty good, the cast was great BUT my god did I get bored watching this
CAUTION; Spoiler Alert
Zee is
a Paris-based professional hit woman who is frequently hired by Finn,
an Irishman who works for crime lord Jules Gobert, to kill Gobert's
competitors in the drug trade. Her violent lifestyle has left her
with few pleasures, such as the friendship of Tessier, an elderly,
wealthy tailor who helps her with crossword puzzles, keeping a
goldfish, and disguises for her jobs. She has gained notoriety as the
Queen of the Dead in the underworld.
Zee is hired by Finn to
murder the members of a Marseille drug gang who are having a good
time at a local nightclub. After Zee takes out the gangsters, a young
American singer named Jenn Clark becomes entangled in the chaos and
suffers a fall that causes her to lose her vision. Zee spares Jenn
because he feels sorry for her, even though he must kill everyone
there. After finding out this, Finn sends her to the hospital where
Jenn is being held in order to complete the task. Around this same
period, police inspector Sey and his partner Jax attempt to apprehend
Jenn's drug-dealing boyfriend "Coco," but Coco manages to
get away, hurts Jax, and takes a hostage, which forces Sey to murder
him. Coco was listening to a demo recording of one of Jenn's songs
when he passed away, which led Sey to follow her.
By
pretending to be a US embassy vice-consul, Zee enters Jenn's room and
gets ready to murder her. Sey walks in at that moment to get Jenn's
statement regarding the assassination, but she does not remember much
because of her traumatic shock. Zee stops trying to kill him, but Sey
starts to doubt her. Additionally, he links Gobert to the recent
theft of a substantial quantity of heroin from Majeb Bin Faheem, an
Arabian prince who is interacting with Gobert. However, because some
of the gangsters involved in both crimes were dirty cops working for
Gobert, his superiors thwart his investigations out of concern for
the effect it will have on their careers. It is also disclosed that
Finn is accountable for the heroin theft because he wants to control
the Paris drug market.
Zee shows up at the hospital to take
Jenn to safety before Finn's thugs can kill her. Zee and Sey, who was
visiting Jax, have a brief face-to-face encounter during the ensuing
shootout before Zee makes his getaway and brings Jenn to her
apartment. Following her identification of Zee as the nightclub
killer, Jenn admits that she and Coco have taken Bin Faheem's heroin
shipment from its original thieves and transported it to a secret
location in Paris. Zee lies to Finn about having gotten rid of Jenn
when they meet at the same spot, an abandoned church, but Finn finds
out later. Zee is found and taken into custody by Sey, who also saves
his life by questioning her and discovering that she was a part of
one of his previous cases against another drug dealer. After Zee
breaks out of custody, he discovers that Jenn has been abducted by
Finn's men. Tessier tells him that a police officer forced him to
tell him when Zee calls him.
In response to Gobert's demand
that Zee kill Bin Faheem for not delivering, Finn has Gobert killed.
After forcing Sey into hiding by setting him up for framing, he
assigns Zee the mission of killing him in exchange for her and Jenn's
freedom. Zee, however, recognizes the setup, kills the assassin,
reveals that Jax is on Finn's radar, and joins forces with Sey to
bring Finn down after she witnesses Sey meeting Jax at the designated
location and one of Finn's assassins waiting to kill her following
her hit. At the church, they get the stolen heroin back and set up a
drug exchange for Jenn.
After the encounter, Zee, Sey, Finn,
and his assassins engage in a bloody battle, during which Sey sets
off an explosive charge that destroys the drugs and causes Jenn to
regain her vision. She asks a dumb question to divert Finn's
attention as he is about to kill Zee, which enables Sey to slide her
a gun, which she then uses to shoot Finn. After surreptitiously
witnessing Jenn's reunion with her mother, she calls Sey and informs
him of her intention to make a change in her life. They then bid each
other a fond farewell.
