Thoughts;
Who reviews netflix movies and shows? I'd like to know as my daughter and I love to watch scary movies, we browse netflix, amazon and on demand for good ones to watch. We watched this one based on the storyline and reviews. Don't do that and don't watch this movie.
The acting was horrible, the plot was ok, but even my daughter figured everything out right away. It was fun to watch and make fun of it the entire movie

Caution; Spoiler Alert

After the family matriarch passes away, a grieving family is haunted by tragic and disturbing occurrences, and begin to unravel dark secrets.

Staring;
Alex Wolff as Peter
Gabriel Byrne as Steve
Toni Collette as Annie
Milly Shapiro as Charlie
Ann Dowd as Joan

Storyline;
When the matriarch of the Graham family passes away, her daughter's family begins to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry.

Thoughts;
What the hell did I just watch? How did this movie get such good ratings? I'm confused and I'm not sure they watched the same movie I watched.
Toni Collette is a great actress and she carried this movie, but it made zero sense, nothing was really explained, why did the dad burn? The oldest son was dark skinned and the rest of the family was light skinned, just so confusing, then naked people?!

I really don't understand, this movie got great ratings and was supposed to be scary-it was not

Plot Summary; CAUTION; Major Spoiler Alert

Artist Annie Graham lives with her husband, Steve, their 16-year-old son Peter, and their 13-year-old daughter, Charlie. At the funeral of her secretive mother, Ellen Leigh, Annie delivers a eulogy explaining their fraught relationship. A week after, Steve is informed that Ellen's grave has been desecrated, while Annie thinks she sees an apparition of Ellen in her workshop. At a support group for bereaved, Annie reveals that the rest of her family suffered from mental illness that resulted in their deaths. To attend a party, Peter lies that he is going to a school event, and Annie forces him to take Charlie with him. Unsupervised, Charlie eats cake containing nuts, which she is allergic to, and falls into Anaphylactic shock. As Peter drives her to a hospital, Charlie leans out of the window for air. Peter swerves to avoid a dead animal and Charlie is decapitated by a telephone pole. The family grieves following Charlie's funeral, heightening tensions between Annie and Peter. Peter is plagued by Charlie's presence around the house.

*Edit 2/23/23

I re-watched this movie with my husband. He was interested in seeing it based on the preview. I still stand by what I said originally. This movie is weird, makes no sense, nothing is remotely explained and it's not at all scary!

Staring;
Demian Bichir as Father Burke
Taissa Farmiga as Sister Irene

Storyline;
When a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together they uncover the order's unholy secret. Risking not only their lives but their faith and their very souls, they confront a malevolent force in the form of the same demonic nun that first terrorized audiences in 'The Conjuring 2,' as the abbey becomes a horrific battleground between the living and the damned.

Thoughts;
I was a little bored during this movie. It was ok and just ok. There was one time that I actually jumped

It definitely had the creep factor to it. It was dark and the noises used were great, however it just didn't hit it for me. Wasn't as scary as I'd have hoped

Plot Summary; CAUTION; Major Spoiler Alert

In 1952 Romania, two Roman Catholic nuns living at the Saint Cartha's monastery are attacked by an unseen force when they enter a tunnel to retrieve an ancient Christian relic. The surviving nun, Sister Victoria, flees from the attacker, a demon appearing as a nun, and hangs herself. Her body is discovered by Frenchie, a villager who transports supplies to the nuns. The Vatican learns of the incident and summons Father Burke to Rome, where they ask him to travel with Sister Irene, a nun in her novitiate, to Romania in order to investigate the situation. While Sr. Irene is teaching children the relationship between religion and science in a school, her Mother Superior interrupts her and informs her that Burke has arrived in order to request Irene's accompaniment in his trip to Romania. The pair travel to Romania and meet with Frenchie, who leads them to the abbey. They discover Victoria's body and remove a key from her corpse. Inside, they encounter the Abbess, who informs them that the nuns observe a period of silence during the night and offers them lodging at the attached convent if they wish to return the next day. Frenchie is attacked by a demon as he returns to the village, but escapes. Burke tells Irene that a boy he exorcised, Daniel, was fatally injured during the exorcism, and Burke has carried the burden of the boy's death with him ever since. Irene reveals that as a girl, she had visions particularly of a nun, causing the Church to take an interest in her. Burke is rescued by Irene after being buried alive in the graveyard by the demonic entity.

In a Dark Place

Author; Ed & Lorraine Warren with Ray Garton and Carmen Reed & Al Snedeker
Came out; October 3, 2014
Read on; Nook App
Rating; Per Amazon 4.3/5

Caution; Spoiler Alert
The story of the most terrifying case of demonic possession in the United States. It became the basis for the hit film “The Haunting in Connecticut” starring Virginia Madsen.
Shortly after moving into their new home, the Snedeker family is assaulted by a sinister presence that preys one-by-one on their family. Exhausting all other resources, they call up the world-renowned demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren—who have never encountered a case as frightening as this…
No one had warned the Snedekers their new house used to be an old funeral home. Their battle with an inexplicable and savage phenomena had only just begun. What started as a simple “poltergeist” escalated into a full-scale war, an average American family battling the deepest, darkest forces of evil—a war this family could not afford to lose.

Thoughts;
So, I'm still on the fence on if this is all real or just a great hoax. I believe ghost's do exist and some are bad, some are good.

This book was amazing, real or not, this was a good read that I just couldn't put down. I admittedly saw the movie when it came out, however was unaware of the book. I realize that movies dramatize things, so this book wasn't as intense as the movie, but if these people who are real actually went through all this I feel for them.

Caution; Spoiler Alert

A maniacal clown terrorizes three young women on Halloween night and everyone else who stands in his way.

Staring;
Jenna Kanell as Tara Heyes
Samantha Scaffidi as Victoria Heyes
David Howard Thornton as Art the Clown
Catherine Corcoran as Dawn
Pooya Mohseni as Cat Lady
Matt McAllister as Mike the Exterminator
Katie Maguire as Monica Brown

Storyline;
Same as above

Thoughts;
This movie was literally a B movie. There was no backstory to Art the clown, none, just a creepy clown in a movie.

So many things in this movie that were just crazy. Cutting a women in half with a clearly dull saw, cutting off a man's head with a knife.

My daughter and I love watching scary movies, but this wasn't it. We did have a good laugh

Plot Summary; CAUTION; Major Spoiler Alert
The movie opens as a television hostess named Monica is interviewing a woman whom she identifies as the sole survivor of the Miles County Massacre, an event during which the interviewee was brutally mutilated and placed in a coma. Monica asks about the attack, identifying the attacker as Art the Clown, and the interviewee says that she saw Art die. As she speaks, a person (revealed to be Art himself) destroys the television set through which he is witnessing the televised interview. Art dresses himself in clown makeup and assembles a bag of crude weapons with which to begin a night of massacre.
Two young women, Tara and Dawn, are walking down a sidewalk to their car after an evening of partying. Both having drunk excessively, Tara and Dawn opt to get food to help them achieve sobriety before attempting to drive home. As they are discussing their plans, they spot Art the Clown with his bag of weapons. Dawn pretends to flirt with him, against Tara's admonitions. While the two look away, Art vanishes.
