Story Line.

An NYPD detective accidentally kills his cop girlfriend after receiving a (fake) gun run call from a project. He's later sent to Puerto Rico for work despite not speaking Spanish. A hurricane hits the island. He and his new partner take a call that takes them via a market to an apartment building with a couple of old men who'll not evacuate. Five armed men come to rob one of them of his safe's content. Shooting begins.

Thoughts.

This was a decent movie with a good storyline. There was humor, action and some thrill.

The acting was good, and it didn't come off as cheesy.

CAUTION; Major Spoiler Alert

A Category 5 hurricane is approaching Puerto Rico and an evacuation order is in effect. A thief who goes by the name of John the Baptist (David Zayas) robs a old woman at a bank of a painting in her safety deposit box and gets an address before killing her and his colleague. Meanwhile a burned-out police officer named Cardillo (Emile Hirsch) reports to work as a lowly desk officer but is told to go out with another officer named Jess Pena (Stephanie Cayo) and evacuate anyone who refuses to leave their homes to a shelter. Cardillo is very upset about being asked to go into the field and is very cynical about the day and he doesn't want to help anyone, but his new partner insists that they do.

Meanwhile, a customer named Griffin at a market buys up 100 pounds of meat, all of the meat available at the market and gets in a fight with another customer who wants to purchase meat. Cardillo and Pena respond after the security officer detains Griffin and says he needs the meat for his "pet." The officers are about to take him to the evacuation shelter, but he insists that he needs to feed his pet cat, and that an old man and a retired police officer are in his apartment complex refusing to evacuate.

Due to the fact that a retired police officer needs evacuation, they agree to take Griffin to his apartment so he can feed his pet and they will evacuate everyone in the building. The officers arrive and go to evacuate the retired officer, Ray (Mel Gibson), they find that he absolutely refuses to leave, even though his daughter Troy (Kate Bosworth) is there and is a doctor and has a bed available for him at the hospital as she is worried that Ray's dialysis machine won't work if the power goes out. Ray says he knows Cardillo from a police related incident a year earlier and they get into a yelling argument. Cardillo takes Troy downstairs to the old man's apartment, find out that his name is Paul Bergkamp and he also refuses to leave his home. Pena stays with Ray and tries to convince him to put in a good word for her as she tries to get a promotion. While trying to convince Bergkamp to evacuate, Cardillo witnesses the building superintendent get shot and killed by one of John's men and he gets Troy and Bergkamp to run up the stairs to Griffin's apartment. The thieves work on breaking into Bergkamp's hefty security while some of them go to clear the building as they saw Cardillo and chase the group up the stairs but lose them.

When Cardillo, Troy, and Bergkamp arrive at Griffin's apartment, Griffin refuses to let them in as he is about to feed a huge bucket of meat to his pet which is locked in a separate room. Cardillo eventually convinces Griffin to let them in. Cardillo realizes that their radios are down due to the interference from the storm to they can't call for backup. Griffin's pet begins to try to break out of the locked room and eventually does and drags Griffin in by his leg. Griffin has Cardillo bring in the bucket of meat but take off his police uniform as he has trained his pet to attack cops. Cardillo drags Griffin out and locks the pet back into the room and Troy attends to his badly injured leg. Troy requests medical supplies and they go to find a doctor's apartment who Bergkamp says is in the building a few floors above them. However, the one stairwell is monitored by the thieves and the elevator doesn't work, so they have to climb the scaffolding.

Pena, still unaware of the thieves walks into the hallway and one of the thieves finds her and demands that she led him to Cardillo and Bergkamp, however Ray shoots and kills the thief. Meanwhile the thieves break into Bergkamp's apartment and find a safe in his basement which is flooding and work on opening it. While Cardillo and Troy climb the scaffolding, Troy almost falls and draws the attention of the thieves who begin shooting at them, but they miss and Cardillo kills one of John's henchmen before they get off the scaffolding and into the nearest apartment.

Pena and Ray decide to go after the thieves and go to another apartment that Ray knows has a lot of weapons. Cardillo is confronted in the hallway by a thief who demands Bergkamp as the thieves need him alive. Cardillo fights back and with the help of Troy, but it doesn't work. Cardillo tackles the thief over the balcony, and they fall four floors into the concourse and continue fighting in the rain. Ray sees it and moves until he can get a clean shot, but Troy eventually shoots and kills the thief while also shooting Cardillo in the leg. They finally get to the doctor's apartment and Troy stitches up his wound. Cardillo finally tells Troy that he used to be a New York detective, responded to a call of a man with a gun and had his girlfriend Jasmine in the car. He goes into a building and sees a gun barrel and shoots, it turns out that Jasmine, who is also a cop didn't stay in the car as instructed, was the person that Cardillo shot and killed, and that there was no gunman. This is why he was demoted to desk duty in Puerto Rico.

Meanwhile, John and the thieves open the safe and find it empty. The thieves then use all of their resources to find Bergkamp as he is the only one who knows where the art is.

Ray and Pena get to the apartment which has a whole cache of weapons, and they stock up. However, a thief interrupts them and makes them disarm. They work together and Pena is able to kill the thief, but Ray is shot in the side even though he is wearing a bullet proof vest. As they try to move, John shoots and mortally wounds Ray in the stairwell and captures Pena. Cardillo and Troy get to Ray, and she tries to save him, it doesn't work, and Ray tells his daughter how much she means to him as he passes away. Cardillo and Troy make it back to Griffin's apartment where Griffin is slowly bleeding out.

John takes Pena to the weapons filled apartment and demands to know where Cardillo and Bergkamp are. John reveals that the original Vincent van Gogh painting, Poppyseeds is in the building and that is what they are looking for. While they are in the eye of the storm, the radios begin to work and John tells Cardillo that he has Pena, not to call for backup and demands Bergkamp and the painting. Cardillo agrees to bring Bergkamp to them so they will release Pena. Bergkamp reveals that his father was a Nazi and passed the paintings to him. When they get to the apartment, they tell John where the art is, and John holds them at gunpoint as they lead the way. They go to another apartment which has a room filled with dozens of original paintings on the walls. John then shoots and kills Bergkamp, gets the keys to the police van and steals Cardillo's uniform while the storm begins to rage again. Cardillo convinces John that these paintings are decoys and that the real paintings are hidden in other apartments, so they go to find them.

Troy and Griffin leave to get medical help but are chased and shot at by a thief and take shelter in a basement apartment that is almost flooded to the ceiling. Troy dives down into the water to find an exit then comes back up to help Griffin through it. John gets taken to Griffin's apartment where there is a painting worth $200 million on the wall. John demands to be let into the locked room and is attacked and killed by Griffin's pet tiger as he is wearing a police uniform.

Afterwards we see Griffin in the hospital with Troy as his doctor. Cardillo and Pena also visit Griffin during which Cardillo asks Troy out for a date and they leave Griffin with a painting.

There are so many things going on here. If you don't pay attention to the majority of the movie, you will miss something.

It has a decent plot and lots of action. The previews show the middle of the movie and doesn't walk you through anything. All in all, it was a decent movie except the ending gives you something to be desired.

Chronic Pain Thoughts: Volume 3 (2/28/23)

 Dear Reader,

I'm frustrated, mad and just plain tired.

I've never felt good, for as long as I can remember. Weather it's my stomach, my head, not feeling like I got a good night sleep. Then there's the pain. Either there all the time or something annoying like my ankle hurts for an hour because I scratched my itch.

I dealt with all of it until I couldn't anymore. I trusted doctors to help me, but like so many I was turned away, told to sleep well or go swimming. I was given medications and I took it all without looking them up or learning more about them. Chasing relief is hard, more so when no one will listen.

I am on my 4th bead drop of Cymbalta 20mg. I want off this medication more than anything but it's impossible. Your brain, your body gets addicted to it. I'm not a depressed person, I never have been. I've had anxiety but nothing like I've been feeling. All I want to do is sleep, I'm totally emotionally blunted, and I have zero drive for anything.

I have one good friend, who also has chronic illnesses but yet is obsessed with telling me how lazy I am. I have a tear in my back that causes me great pain and my body is not doing great with this taper. I am aware that this maybe a toxic friendship, but what do you do when you have no one else to vent to!

We all deal with something and although we all know that we should help ourselves sometimes we just can't and it's heartbreaking.

I follow this facebook page; Chronic Pain Info and I see a lot of what I go through.

I encourage everyone reading this to do a deep dive into your medications, into yourself and be yourself no matter what. You are not alone in what you are feeling and those who judge us think they are perfect.

My fatigue is unreal and the more I do, the more tired I am. I am not alone.

"'Til Death Do Us Part" takes on a whole new meaning in this hilarious, adrenaline-fueled adventure as Darcy and Tom must save their loved ones--if they don't kill each other first

Thoughts;

This was a decent movie; it had some cute moments and some really good ones too. I didn't expect to go the way it did.

It was cute and some fun moments, it wasn't the best romantic comedy I've seen but it was different for sure!

CAUTION; Major Spoiler Alert

The film opens on an island resort in the Philippines. Families and friends are gathered for the wedding of Darcy Rivera (Jennifer Lopez) and Tom Fowler (Josh Duhamel). Darcy shows up to a dinner where she meets with her mother, Renata (Sonia Braga), who thinks the big wedding is too flashy. Meanwhile, Tom is setting up a surprise for Darcy on a motorboat but gets startled by the security guard, causing him to fall into the water.

Tom's mother, Carol (Jennifer Coolidge), arrives with her second husband, Larry (Steve Coulter). At the same time, Darcy's father, Robert (Cheech Marin), shows up with his new younger girlfriend, Harriet (D'Arcy Carden), which annoys Renata since she still hates Robert after their divorce. While Darcy and Tom try to spend time together, Tom gets pulled away by his best friend/best man Ricky (Desmin Borges), leaving Darcy to be with her younger sister Jamie (Callie Hernandez). Complicating matters is the arrival of Darcy's charming ex-boyfriend Sean (Lenny Kravitz), who was invited by Robert. He calls Darcy "Dee Dee," and his presence puts Tom on edge, with everyone seeing he is clearly jealous. Tom delivers a speech that is upstaged by Sean's more personal speech toward Darcy. This is followed by Tom's sister Jeannie (Melissa Hunter) delivering a speech discussing her recent marital problems.

Darcy and Tom try to wind down and get intimate with one another, but it is interrupted by Carol coming in to offer words that she thinks are encouraging, but they really aren't. The couple ends up sleeping separately.

The next morning is wedding day. As preparations are being made, a group of pirates makes their way toward the island after seeing the couple's wedding website. Darcy is helped by Renata, Jamie, and Carol into her dress, but she feels that something isn't right. She texts Tom to meet privately, and Darcy says she feels that having everyone come to the Philippines for their wedding was too much, as she never wanted a big wedding. They argue until they decide that they ought to call off the wedding, just as the pirates storm the resort and take the staff and guests hostage. Tom witnesses this and runs to warn Darcy. The pirates force everyone into a pool and demand a $45 million ransom from Robert, as they know how wealthy he is.

Tom gets Darcy out of her room and tells her what's happening. They see an armed pirate attempting to break in and try to come up with a plan to trap him. While they attempt to subdue him with their own ideas (Tom wants to trap him in a net while Darcy thinks spraying his eyes with hairspray would do the trick), they both get taken down and are tied up together. The pirates then head with the couple to bring them to their leader, but Darcy asks for a cigarette and uses it to light the pirates' heads on fire, causing them to jump out and leaving the couple to try and take control of the driver less cart. They manage to jump out, but Darcy's dress gets caught and is mostly ripped off as the cart falls over a cliff. They are then attacked by one of the pirates, but Darcy manages to pull a grenade from his hand, and Tom kicks him and makes him fall against a rock, killing him. This leaves him mortified at killing a man.

Darcy and Tom try to find a way to untie themselves, but Tom informs Darcy to be careful with the grenade she is holding because it doesn't have a pin in it, and her dropping it could set it off. They try to find an area with good cell reception so they can call for help, but they get chased by more pirates, and Darcy drops the phone. They find a zip line tower where they descend, and Darcy drops the grenade on two pirates, which alerts the others to their location when it blows up. When the couple lands, they are scared to see their loved ones being held hostage and try to find a way to get help.

The couple goes into the kitchen to find a way to cut their bindings. A female pirate enters just as they cut themselves free with a deli slicer (but Tom gets a nasty cut on his hand that makes Darcy faint). Tom fights the pirate until he knocks her out by smashing her through a glass window. When Darcy comes to her senses, she shortens her dress and wears boots so she can spring into action and help Tom save their loved ones.

Darcy and Tom find the main office of the resort but find that they have no internet. The owners, Margy (Selena Tan) and Ace (Alberto Isaac), hide the couple in their bunker. While tending to Tom's wound, Margy lets it slip that the resort was hit by pirates the previous summer, which Tom had known about. Darcy yells at Tom over this and his habit of self-sabotaging and his insecurities, which is what led him to make the big wedding. Tom hits back that Darcy is putting on a big front of being confident when she is also scared. Tom then takes responsibility for the hostages since he brought them all there. When another pirate starts getting close, Ace and Margy send the couple down a tunnel, but Tom gets out and turns himself in to be captured, leaving Darcy hidden.

Tom is brought to the other hostages. He tells the lead pirate a phrase in Balinese (which means "fuck your grandpa"), and he then holds Sean at knife-point. Tom deduced that Sean is the bad guy who hired the pirates because Sean had said the phrase earlier, and Tom figured the pirates are Balinese. He even produces a wedding invitation that one of the pirates had, and Tom states that Sean had hoped to get the ransom from Robert since he did not give him investment money. Sean drops the act and breaks free, joining the pirates and holding a gun at Tom.

Darcy begins to feel bad while staying with Ace and Margy over her argument with Tom, so she is encouraged to save everyone herself. Sean takes the lead pirate with him to go find Darcy, using Harriet as collateral and taking her with him in his helicopter. Darcy arrives with a gun and tries to reconcile with Tom before taking on the pirates. The pirates end up taking Darcy with the other hostages, with one of the pirates personally wanting to kill Darcy because she burned his face. The others then learn that Harriet was in on the scheme the whole time, as Larry had been recording everything and got footage of her and Sean making out. While in the helicopter, Harriet kills the lead pirate by hitting a pressure point to paralyze him and then throws him out of the helicopter.

Darcy and Tom devise a plan by doing an impromptu wedding ceremony in the pool, which the pirates allow. Carol leads everyone to sing the song "I'll Be" before the couple seizes an opportunity to fight back (with Carol getting her hands on a rifle too). They use another grenade to kill the pirates, setting off some fireworks that alert Sean and Harriet. Ace and Margy help the guests get to safety while Darcy and Tom try to stop the villains.

The couple makes it to the docks, where they subdue a young pirate and try to take the motorboat that Tom was going to surprise Darcy with. They are found by Sean, who attempts to get Darcy on his side, but she refuses to join him. She and Tom hop in the boat while Sean hangs on to go after them. Harriet attempts to shoot at them from the helicopter. As Darcy speeds the boat up, Tom and Sean get caught in a para-sail that flies upwards. Tom uses a chunk of fake hair to zip line down, and Darcy uses a cake knife that Carol gave her to cut the para-sail loose, causing Sean to get shredded by the helicopter's blades, and Harriet goes down into the ocean when the helicopter crashes.

Darcy and Tom make it back to the island, where they fully reconcile and agree to go on with their wedding. Authorities show up to arrest the surviving pirates, and Darcy and Tom finally get married. Jamie and Ricky (who were hooking up) then accidentally set off the last firework.

And prepared for an exquisite multiple-course meal and the experience of a lifetime, obsessive epicurean Tyler and his unimpressed plus-one Margot enter the private minimalist restaurant. At last, the long wait is over. However, no one knows that the cryptic genius in the kitchen has big plans for tonight. But is the blasé clientele ready for Julian's creative madness?

This was great! Full of mystery and so many what the fuck moments!

You can see the decent into madness of Chef during the movie, you watch the pieces getting put together one by one. It's very well written and put together with a very good storyline.

I could watch this movie again.

CAUTION; Major Spoiler Alert

Margot Mills and her date Tyler travel by boat to Hawthorne, an exclusive restaurant owned and operated by celebrity chef Julian Slowik, located on a private island. The other guests attending the dinner are Lillian, a food critic; her editor Ted; wealthy couple Richard and Anne; George, a post-prime movie star, and his personal assistant Felicity; and business partners Soren, Dave, and Bryce, along with Julian's alcoholic mother. The group is given a tour of the island by the restaurant Maître d'hôtel, Elsa, who notes that Margot was not Tyler's designated guest for the evening.

Dinner begins, and Julian introduces a series of courses, delivering increasingly unsettling monologues about each meal. As the night goes on, secrets about each guest, ranging from affairs to money laundering, are slowly revealed amidst dialogue satirizing class divides, climate change, patriarchy hindering women's success (and creating unreasonable expectations for men), and capitalistic exploitation, usually spurred by Julian and the staff's introductions and meals. During the fourth course, a sous chef kills himself in front of the guests, and another staff member cuts off Richard's ring finger when he tries to escape. After the fourth course, the restaurant's prime investor, and Soren, Dave and Bryce's boss, is drowned in full view of the diners. At various points in the night, Julian allows guests to attempt escape, only to have the staff catch and return them.

Julian declares all the guests were selected because they either contributed to him losing his passion for his craft or because they make a living off exploiting the work of artisans and workers like him and his team. He announces that everyone present will be dead by the end of the night. Since Margot's presence was unplanned, Julian privately gives her the choice of dying either with the staff or with the guests. When Margot hesitates, Julian decides for her, saying he knows his upper-crust customers from fellow service-industry workers.

It is revealed that Margot is an escort named Erin, who has been hired before by Richard (explaining them staring at each other all night), and who Tyler has hired for the evening. Julian reveals that Tyler was invited personally and knew all along that the dinner would end with everyone's death, so he invited Margot knowing full well she would die. Julian humiliates Tyler further by forcing him to cook and insulting his food, causing Tyler to kill himself in a storeroom. Julian asks Margot to collect a barrel needed for dessert.

Margot sneaks into Julian's house, only to be attacked by Elsa. Margot kills Elsa in self-defense by stabbing her in the neck. After seeing newspaper clippings of Julian's past life in his office, Margot finds a radio, calls for help and returns to the restaurant with the barrel. A Coast Guard officer arrives from his boat, then reveals himself to be a line cook in disguise and returns to the kitchen.

Margot mocks Julian's dishes and complains that she is still hungry. When Julian asks what she would like to eat, Margot requests a cheeseburger and fries, having previously seen a photo of a younger, happier Julian working at a fast-food restaurant. Moved by her simple request, he prepares the meal to her specifications. Margot takes a bite and praises his food, then asks if she can get it "to go". Julian packs the food for her, and he and the staff allow her to leave. Margot takes the Coast Guard boat docked nearby and escapes the island.

The dessert is an elevated s'mores dish - the staff cover the floor with crushed graham crackers and adorn the guests with small capes made of marshmallows and hats made of chocolate. Julian then sets the restaurant ablaze, detonating the barrel and killing the guests, staff, and himself as Margot watches from the boat and unpacks her cheeseburger to-go.

Chronic Pain Thoughts: Volume 2 (2/10/23)

Dear Reader,

*Warning. Taking this medication may lead to worse symptoms, getting off of it is impossible.

Years ago, I asked my doctor about Cymbalta (duloxetine). The commercial told me to and also told me it was a great drug for fibromyalgia. My doctor at the time agreed and I was put on a low dose, I was so happy that it seemed to be working. Then it didn't.

Doctors will up your dose to the max amount. They don't listen or even look at the other medications you're taking to see if your symptoms are caused by that.

I was given the information on the below black box warning.

Summary Of FDA Black Box Warnings

Suicidal thoughts or actions in children and adults

Depression and certain other psychiatric disorders are themselves associated with increases in the risk of suicide. Patients with major depressive disorder (MDD), both adult and pediatric, may experience worsening of their depression and/or the emergence of suicidal ideation and behavior (suicidality) or unusual changes in behavior, whether or not they are taking antidepressant medications. This risk may persist until significant remission occurs.

In short-term studies, antidepressants increased the risk of suicidality in children, adolescents, and young adults when compared to placebo. Short-term studies did not show an increase in the risk of suicidality with antidepressants compared to placebo in adults beyond age 24. Adults age 65 and older taking antidepressants have a decreased risk of suicidality. Patients, their families, and caregivers should be alert to the emergence of anxiety, restlessness, irritability, aggressiveness and insomnia. If these symptoms emerge, they should be reported to the patient’s prescriber or health care professional. All patients being treated with antidepressants for any indication should watch for and notify their health care provider for worsening symptoms, suicidality and unusual changes in behavior, especially during the first few months of treatment.

I was not given the information on the long-term effects of taking this medication, I've had multiple doctor's appointments for some of the following, none of them advised me it could be caused by Cymbalta, I had to find the information out on my own when I finally decided enough was enough and took my time to actually research the medications I was taking.

I've also had multiple surgeries because of torn muscles/ligaments that I didn't know how they happened!

Taking Cymbalta may increase your risk of breaking a bone. This is especially true when you first start taking Cymbalta and soon after you stop taking it.Mar 25, 2021

Does Cymbalta affect the memory?

Yes. This is a common side effect.

How can Cymbalta affect the muscles?

It can cause tiny tears in the muscles and cause pain in other ways too.

Does Cymbalta help pain or cause it?

Both. The longer you take it, the more likely you are to suffer from pain.

Can Cymbalta be causing problems with … (add your key word here!) skin, breathing, pain, sleep?

Can it increase (add your key word here), etc.?

Yes! To almost any side effects!

I was a zombie for so long that I didn't notice I was emotionally blunted.

Some researchers argue that emotional blunting is not only a simple side effect of antidepressants but also a residual symptom of depression. They believe that emotional blunting is a symptom of depression that is not measured in conventional scales and is often incompletely treated with SSRIs

I have never had depression issues; I've never felt so down I just couldn't care. When I finally decided enough was enough, I contacted my doctor about getting off Cymbalta because it wasn't working. The advice they gave me was horrible and you cannot just stop taking it. This effects your brain in more ways than you realize.

Stopping duloxetine abruptly may result in one or more of the following withdrawal symptoms: irritability, nausea, feeling dizzy, vomiting, nightmares, headache, and/or paresthesias (prickling, tingling sensation on the skin).

A qualitative analysis published in 2020 noted: “It is now suspected that antidepressant withdrawal syndrome is more common and severe than earlier presumed, affecting roughly 30%-50% of those who attempt to stop their treatment.” It reported that some people experience debilitating withdrawal symptoms, pointing to the link between withdrawal and suicide.

Luckily through my research I found a wonderful group that gives you the information and tools you need to get off this medication safely and effetely.

Please, if you are on this medication and want off follow the slow taper guidelines or you will find yourself in a world of hurt!

Adults with depression who want to quit antidepressants should be given support on how to do it safely over time, says NICE | News | News | NICE

 Dear Reader,

Welcome! We all have different experiences when it comes to doctors, medications and how others treat us. Some positive, some negative and some leave us in amazement of "what just happened".

I've decided to live each day as it were better than the last, to wake up and be productive. I encourage you to do the same and not judge those around you who do things differently than you!

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ME: PLEASE READ
1. My pain - My pain is not your pain. It is not caused by inflammation. Taking your arthritis medication will not help me. I cannot work my pain out or shake it off. It is not even a pain that stays put. Today it is in my shoulder, but tomorrow it may be in my foot or gone. My pain is believed to be caused by improper signals sent to the brain, possibly due to sleep disorders. It is not well understood, but it is real.

2. My fatigue - I am not merely tired. I am often in a severe state of exhaustion. I may want to participate in physical activities, but I can't. Please do not take this personally. If you saw me shopping in the mall yesterday, but I can't help you with yard work today, it isn't because I don't want to. I am, most likely, paying the price for stressing my muscles beyond their capability.

3. My forgetfulness - Those of us who suffer from it call it fibrofog. I may not remember your name, but I do remember you. I may not remember what I promised to do for you, even though you told me just seconds ago. My problem has nothing to do with my age but may be related to sleep deprivation. I do not have a selective memory. On some days, I just don't have any short-term memory at all.

4. My clumsiness - If I step on your toes or run into you five times in a crowd, I am not purposely targeting you. I do not have the muscle control for that. If you are behind me on the stairs, please be patient. These days, I take life and stairwells one step at a time.

5. My sensitivities - I just can't stand it! "It" could be any number of things: bright sunlight, loud or high-pitched noises, odors. FMS has been called the "aggravating everything disorder." So don't make me open the drapes or listen to your child scream. I really can't stand it.

6. My intolerance - I can't stand heat, either. Or humidity. If I am a man, I sweat...profusely. If I am a lady, I perspire. Both are equally embarrassing, so please don't feel compelled to point this shortcoming out to me. I know. And don't be surprised if I shake uncontrollably when it's cold. I don't tolerate cold, either. My internal thermostat is broken, and nobody knows how to fix it.

7. My depression - Yes, there are days when I would rather stay in bed or in the house or die. I have lost count of how many of Dr. Kevorkian's patients suffered from FMS as well as other related illnesses. Severe, unrelenting pain can cause depression. Your sincere concern and understanding can pull me back from the brink. Your snide remarks can tip me over the edge.

8. My stress - My body does not handle stress well. If I have to give up my job, work part time, or handle my responsibilities from home, I'm not lazy. Everyday stresses make my symptoms worse and can incapacitate me completely.

9. My weight - I may be fat or I may be skinny. Either way, it is not by choice. My body is not your body. My appestat is broken, and nobody can tell me how to fix it.

10. My need for therapy - If I get a massage every week, don't envy me. My massage is not your massage. Consider how a massage would feel if that charley horse you had in your leg last week was all over your body. Massaging it out was very painful, but it had to be done. My body is knot-filled. If I can stand the pain, regular massage can help, at least temporarily.

11. My good days - If you see me smiling and functioning normally, don't assume I am well. I suffer from a chronic pain and fatigue illness with no cure. I can have my good days or weeks or even months. In fact, the good days are what keep me going.

12. My uniqueness - Even those who suffer from FMS are not alike. That means I may not have all of the problems mentioned above. I do have pain above and below the waist and on both sides of my body which has lasted for a very long time. I may have migraines or hip pain or shoulder pain or knee pain, but I do not have exactly the same pain as anyone else.

I hope that this helps you understand me, but if you still doubt my pain, your local bookstore, library and the internet have many good books and articles on fibromyalgia.
