Caution; Spoiler Alert
Synopsis; In Ancient Polynesia, when a terrible curse
incurred by the Demigod Maui reaches an impetuous Chieftain’s daughter’s
island, she answers the Ocean’s call to seek out the demigod to set things
right.
Staring;
Auli’I Cravalho as Moana
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Maui
Rachel House as Gramma Tala
Temuera Morrison as Chief Tui
Storyline;
Moana Waialiki is a sea
voyaging enthusiast and the only daughter of a chief in a long line of navigators.
When her island's fishermen can't catch any fish and the crops fail, she learns
that the demigod Maui caused the blight by stealing the heart of the goddess,
Te Whiti. The only way to heal the island is to persuade Maui to return Te
Whiti's heart, so Moana sets off on an epic journey across the Pacific. The
film is based on stories from Polynesian mythology.
Thoughts;
My kids have watched this a million times before I could even
get to putting this all together. Although very cute, this movie is a Disney movie in every sense of
the word. There’s singing, there’s danger, a girl trying to save the day and
humor.
I have zero issues with what I stated above, this movie was
certainly different in the sense of it was not a Princess type movie.
