Beth and Tom Hardcastle are the envy of their neighbourhood – they have the perfect marriage, the perfect house, the perfect family.
When the police knock on their door one evening, Beth panics. Tom should be back from work by now – what if he’s crashed his car? She fears the worst.
But the worst is beyond imagining.
As the interrogation begins, Beth will find herself questioning everything she believed about her husband.
They’re
saying he’s a monster. And they’re saying she knew
Thoughts.
This started out a bit harder to read. It's one of those books from across the pond where they speak a bit different than us, plus it doesn't start full bore, it's almost like a slow burn movie, stick with it and it's so worth it!
A few chapters in I honestly couldn't put this down! Tom comes home late, only to be arrested. He comes back from being questioned to not answer any of Beth's questions, only to be arrested again and while this is all going on Beth starts to remember certain things.
While Tom is in jail, Beth develops a closeness with Adam, she tells him the things she remembers and he encourages her to tell the police, which she does. The things that happen after this are amazing and I won't give you any spoilers after this. The ending of the book is a bit crazy and nothing I would have imagined!
